Fatigue in transport

Driver drowsiness and distraction are costly risk factors in the mining and road transport sectors. They slow driver reaction times, reduce coordination and affect decision-making. And the risks are compounded by the fact that, on its own, the human brain has limited ability to effectively detect the onset of micro sleeps.

The facts are undeniable

More than 90% of haul truck accidents are caused by human error– the vast majority confirmed to be fatigue related. In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that drowsiness is the primary factor in 100,000 police-reported crashes annually, resulting in 76,000 injuries and 1,500 deaths.

Integrated & seamless

The DSS In Vehicle System (DSS-IVS) helps manage fatigue risk by monitoring and measuring operator head and eye behavior to determine their state of drowsiness and attention. A remote sensor on the dashboard observes the driver’s eyes while driving, and the system is automatic and non-contact. Drivers simply get behind the wheel and work unimpeded.
